Work Experience: Supported by a job coach, students participate in work experience placements tailored to their strengths and interests. These opportunities build confidence, communication, responsibility and authentic workplace skills.

Hard Technology: Students develop practical trade skills through hands-on design and construction projects. Learning focuses on safe workshop practices, problem-solving, tool use and completing meaningful woodwork and trade-based projects.
Food Technology: Students work independently and in small groups to develop essential life and independence skills through food preparation, meal planning, shopping, kitchen safety, budgeting and healthy cooking. Students prepare food for the school cafe as well as meals and food for themselves, providing authentic oppportunities to practise skills that can be transferred to home and community settings. The programme supports students to build confidence, independence, finacial literacy, decision making and the practical skills needed for greater independence in adulthood.
Horticulture: Our Garden to Table programme connects gardening with food technology and healthy living. Students learn to grow, care for, harvest and prepare fresh produce for the school cafe and their own meals. This hands-on learning helps students develop gardening skills, responsibility, healthy eating habits and an understanding of how food is grown and prepared.
Hospitality: Twice a week we operate a student-led cafe with a team of 4-5 students taking responsibility for a range of hospitality roles. These include barista, food preparation, serving, font-of-house, taking orders and till operations. Working in a busy cafe environment provides students with authentic work experience and extensive opprtunities to develop communications, teamwork, problem-solving, time managment, financial literacy and customer service skills.
SPEC (South Pacific Educational Courses): Students can participate in SPEC programmes that support individual transition goals while working towards recognised NZQA qualification.
Sports: Students develop active lifestyles and learn how to access leisure, recreation and coummnity opportunities that will reamin available beyond school, building confidence and the skills to participate as independently as possible. e.g Special Olympics,swimming at the Aquatic centre, Hatea walking loop, Kensington Park and Kensington Stadium.
Post School Connections: Regular contact with Lynkz, IDEA services, Geneva/ Elevator for our past students to keep in contact with the school. These are all within walking distance from school.
Transition planning: Transition is a journey that begins during the senior years at school. Planning is a collaborative process involving the student, whānau, school and outside agencies. Together we identify strenghts, aspirations, support needs and next steps to create a positive and meangful pathway beyond school.
Advice and Guidance: For students and their families in their last year at school to work on a Transition plan to ensure a smooth transition to adult life. A multi agency approach using a MInistry of Social Development funded co-ordinator, the school and family to create a positive and meaningful plan for life after school.
Our Goal: Every student leaves school known, connected and supporte with meanful opportuines to contribute, particpate, belong and contiue growing as adults within their whānua and community.
